Emily Clay is co-lead of AEA’s Communications and Marketing team. She has an extensive background in media. Her areas of expertise are in digital media, internet businesses, online advertising, marketing, sales development, general management, and public speaking.
She has knowledge about content and audience strategies, monetization as well as industry issues such as privacy and truth and misinformation online. She’s helped publishers and startups diversify revenue streams, and build strong brands across multiple platforms.
Emily worked for Portland Business Journal (owned by American City Business Journals) where she increased new business revenue by 500 percent in five years. American City Business Journals is the largest publisher of metropolitan business newsweeklies in the United States, reaching more than 3.6 million readers each week.
Prior to that, Emily worked for U.S. News & World Report in San Francisco where she led the team to exceed revenues of $6 Million. While there she helped drive their sales, marketing, and branding strategy. Emily drove key strategic partnerships with companies such as Microsoft, Adobe, Sony, HP, Sephora, and Chevron.
